Blog Post #3
Pediatricians have sent out a warning saying that children should not keep hedgehogs, hamsters, baby chicks, lizards, and turtles as pets because of risks for disease. Exotic animals like this can carry deadly, dangerous germs, and sometimes are more likely to cause scratches than a dog or cat would. And since young children tend to put their hands in their mouth, they are at a higher risk of infection from these animals. That mean's children under 5 years of age, should not have "untraditional" pets, and avoid touching them in things like petting zoos.
